BUTTE — The taste of victory eluded the Butte High Bulldogs in the first three weeks of the 2024 season.
The Bulldogs flipped the script on Friday night, defeating previously unbeaten Missoula Big Sky, 21-14, at Naranche Stadium.
Junior quarterback Colton Shea threw two touchdowns and ran for another, while the Bulldogs’ defense forced four turnovers on their way to a win.
After a challenging first three weeks, Butte (1-3, 1-1 Western AA) busted out of its slump to avoid its first 0-4 start since 2009.
“As a coach, I get to see all the cool things they do that maybe not everybody gets to see. So, then on a Friday night when they finally get that chance for a W, it’s huge,” Butte High head coach Arie Grey said.
Butte will look to keep its momentum rolling against Kalispell Flathead at home next week, while Big Sky hopes to get back on track as it hosts crosstown rival Sentinel.
Missoula Big Sky junior quarterback Avery Omlid gets set to pass against Butte High on Sept. 20, 2024.
