Description
The Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for another fun-filled Fourth of July celebration at Whitefish City Beach with fireworks and food vendors to celebrate the occasion.
There will be numerous vendors at City Beach on July Fourth with shaved ice, boba tea, corndogs and barbecue. Vendors will open in the early evening and stay open until the fireworks start.
The Parks and Recreation Department would like to remind the beach patrons that the main City Beach parking lot will be closed to allow vendors to set up.
ADA parking will be available on Woodland Place and along Washington Avenue. All other parking in the area will be very limited. Traffic control will be set up by 7 p.m. on roads surrounding the beach area.
The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce is offering a shuttle, compliments of Rocky Mountain Transportation, from the O’Shaughnessy Center to the overflow lot near City Beach from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m.
The fireworks, presented by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, will begin around 10:30 p.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes. The city of Whitefish encourages everyone to walk or bike to the beach to help alleviate parking and traffic congestion. Bicycle parking will be available in the main City Beach lot near the vendors.
The boat launch at City Beach will close at 7 p.m. and the decontamination station will close at 5 p.m. Decontamination must be performed prior to launching in Whitefish Lake for watercraft that have ballast tanks or bags. Visit www.cityofwhitefish.gov/Inspect-Decon to make an appointment.
The rules at City Beach still apply during the Fourth of July festivities. No dogs are allowed at City Beach, on the beach or in the park areas. No personal fireworks, alcohol, or glass containers are allowed. Keep the beach clean and pick up your trash before heading home.
On Saturday, July 5, people are encouraged to join Clean the Fifth, an inaugural volunteer, post-event clean up at City Beach. Please arrive at 7 a.m. and bring work gloves.
Call the Whitefish Parks and Recreation Department with any questions at (406) 863-2470.
