One in three U.S. bridges is in need of repair or replacement, according to data from the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, including 29% of interstate bridges.
Lewis and Clark County has reopened a bridge on Lover’s Lane in Augusta after an inspection determined that damage caused by a tractor-trailer was cosmetic and not structural, officials said Thursday.
On June 13, the bridge was damaged when a tractor-trailer that exceeded the height limit struck the top of the structure.

The county closed the bridge over safety concerns until an inspection could be completed, officials said. The Lover’s Lane bridge remains weight-restricted to 6-tons.
