The 24th Annual Northwest Montana Veterans Stand Down will be held Oct. 5-6 at the Memorial City in Libby.

Honoring all veterans, the opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. It closes at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 6, the stand down begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. or while supplies last.

This event provides veterans an opportunity to obtain free services and to engage with other veterans, the Spokane VA, Montana VA and other community resources in the Northwest.

Free services available to veterans will include the following: medical bus with staff, flu shots, benefits, ID cards, surplus military clothing, socks and underwear, food box, haircuts, employment, hot meal, legal, aging Services, transportation, housing, counseling, suicide prevention, energy, senator representatives and more. 

The following veteran resources will be on-site: a Service Officer for the VA Clinic, a physical health provider, employment counseling, veterans service organizations, community service referrals as well as dog and cat food.

The Memorial Center is located at 111 E. Lincoln Boulevard.

Admission is free for veterans and families. Vets are asked to bring their DD214 or other military ID. A free bus for veterans is available for transportation on Saturday only. A sign up sheet is available at the Vet Center, Veterans Food Pantry or Samaritan House Kalispell.

A civilian clothing giveaway – open to the public - will be located in the parking lot only. Those bringing pets are asked to have dogs on a leash and cats in a crate.
