MISSOULA — The Montana football team kicked off its 2025 recruiting class in a major way last week.

The Grizzlies garnered five commitments over three days from high school seniors. Four of the five commits are 3-star recruits from out of state and the other one is a standout multi-sport athlete from Montana.

Julius Gillick started the commitment blitz. He was recruited by UM as a running back and has also played defensive end at Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California, after he moved from Seattle.

He's rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 150 running back recruit in the nation for the 2025 class. He picked Montana over an offer from fellow Big Sky team Idaho State.

Brady Beaner also gave his commitment to UM. He was recruited as a safety and an athlete coming out of Anacortes High School in Anacortes, Washington.

Beaner is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 9 recruit in Washington for the 2025 class. He chose the Griz over offers from FBS teams Boise State, Army, Navy and Air Force as well as Big Sky teams Idaho, Idaho State, Eastern Washington and UC Davis.

Making the move with Beaner to UM is his brother Brock Beaner. Brock was recruited as a safety.

He's rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 14 recruit in Washington in the 2025 class. He chose the Griz over offers from FBS teams Boise State, Army, Navy and Air Force as well as Big Sky teams Idaho, Idaho State, Eastern Washington and UC Davis.

Colton Lentz gave the Griz another Washington player in this flurry of commitments. He was recruited as a linebacker and athlete coming out of Nooksack Valley High School in Everson, Washington.

Lentz is rated as a 3-star athlete by 247Sports and is ranked as the No. 35 recruit in Washington for the 2025 class. He picked the Griz over offers from FBS teams Army and Air Force as well as Big Sky teams Idaho, UC Davis, Eastern Washington and Portland State.

Merek Mihelish became the first in-state commit in this recruiting class. He was recruited as an athlete after playing safety and quarterback at Helena Capital Hgh School.

He picked the Griz over offers from NAIA teams Montana Western, Montana Tech, Carroll College and Dickinson State. He earned all-state honors as an all-purpose player last year while helping the Bruins reach the Class AA playoff semifinals.
