Description

My Glacier Village is joining the Administration for Community Living in the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month during the month of May. The village has a series of events planned to honor and support area seniors.

The 2025 theme, "Flip the Script on Aging," focuses on transforming how society perceives, discusses, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions.

On Wednesday, May 14, My Glacier Village is partnering with Logan Health with a lunch and learn event on stroke awareness at the Logan Health Glacier Conference Center in the McDonald Room at noon. Christina Armstrong, stroke program coordinator, will cover the basics of a stroke. Seating is limited, and light lunchtime refreshments will be provided.

Then on Wednesday, May 21, The Gail Parrish Band will delight with 60s and folk music at the First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell from 1 to 3 p.m.

In partnership with Bigfork Coffee House and the Bigfork Art & Cultural Center, My Glacier Village will hold a Coffee and Conversations event on Friday, May 23, at the Bigfork Art & Cultural Center at 11 a.m.  Attendees can explore significant aging trends with other like-minded adults and challenge the narrative surrounding aging for today’s senior citizens. Bigfork Coffee House will provide coffee and freshly baked pastries.

On Wednesday, May 28, the Columbia Falls Ace Hardware is hosting My Glacier Village and area seniors to their Senior Home Safety BBQ from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  ACE will be offering discounts to seniors and highlighting home safety products, lightweight garden tools, and other senior friendly products.  On Wednesday, June 4, Glacier Ace Hardware in Evergreen will host a similar event.

My Glacier Village is a local chapter of the nationwide Village-to-Village Network, created for older adults who wish to remain active and engaged in their community and who know they can rely on each other when they need a little help.
