PEAK Fit with focus on functional fitness expands to Kalispell

Description

Peak Fit, a fitness and wellness center that opened in Whitefish two years ago, has expanded to Kalispell, opening a new location on East Idaho Street.

The gym seeks to provide a holistic approach to fitness and recovery through the utilization of high intensity interval training, also called HIIT, mixed with caring for the body and prioritizing recovery

The whole idea is to promote “functional fitness,” according to head coach and co-founder Andre Bolourchi.

“It’s functional training for everyday people,” Bolourchi said. “We’re focused on longevity, on building muscle, always focusing on form, on our breathing. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Showing up, being consistent, and having the accountability of a trainer in the room is important... it's all about celebrating wins.”

The HIIT classes are usually group endeavors, but the gym offers semi-private and private lessons as well. Each day’s workouts target a specific area of the body, for example lower or upper body. The HIIT sessions are set up for 50 minutes with 12 stations, each with a different work out activity.

“In an efficient, 50-minute training session, it’s no surprise to see some members burn up to 800 calories,” the gym’s website says.

Last year, the original location in Whitefish expanded to include a wellness sector as well, featuring a focus on sauna, cold plunges, light therapy and compression therapy.

The Whitefish space features three saunas, one cold plunge and one Odin ice bath, which can reach 32 degrees Fahrenheit and form ice. The new Kalispell location features one sauna, one cold plunge, a red-light therapy booth and Normatec compression therapy.

Bolourchi started Peak Fit alongside business partners Debbie Maue and Joe Hess. One of their favorite results of the venture has been the community that comes with it, from free outdoor classes in Depot Park to supporting local charities.

“Why not try and do the same thing and build out our community and go into Kalispell?” Bolourchi asked. “We’re really excited to activate that this spring and run a lot more community-based events.”

The new location features an outdoor space that the owners hope to turn into a community space where outdoor workouts, coffee hours and more can take place. It is a way to expand the community aspect of their usual workouts. They also look forward to hosting events around Kalispell in the future.

The types of workouts the trainers at Peak Fit lead are appropriate for all ages, whether for a teenager or a retired person, co-founder Hess said.

“It’s motivating. The trainer’s responsibly is really to get to know each of our members, make them feel welcome, and make sure they're doing things correctly,” co-founder Maue said.

“The key to seeing results is coming back,” Hess added.

One way to start is by joining the gym’s six-week challenge that targets fitness, accountability, nutrition and wellness. The idea is to commit to a workout regiment, stick to a meal plan with the help of a nutrition coach on staff, recover after your workouts and have a personalized approach to growth.

To access unlimited classes each week, members can commit to a platinum subscription of $49 a week. Drop-in classes are $30 and a pack of 10 can be purchased for $260. Members can use both the Kalispell and Whitefish locations.

The gym has classes every Monday through Friday as well as Saturday mornings. To view the class schedules and see who is coaching, patrons should visit peakfitmt.com/schedule-now/.

The gym is located at 637 East Idaho St.
