Description

Summer Reading Experience at Flathead County Library kicks off June 10-12 with a Play Expo in Kalispell, Columbia Falls and Bigfork.

Sponsored by Flathead Library Foundation and Don K Family Foundation, Summer Reading Experience is a free program that encourages youth to enjoy books, explore science and discover new adventures all summer long.

This year’s events are all about learning through exploration, with an emphasis on STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities. Beginning June 10, children and teens can pick up a game board at any Flathead County Library location that offers reading and learning challenges, as well as a list of summer programming at the library. Due to road construction on Third Street East on the south side of the Kalispell library, parking will be limited at the Kalispell location this summer.

Drop in to one of the library locations for a sneak preview of our summer activities and grab a take-home game board during the Play Expo. The event is for infants through children entering fifth grade. The Play Expo in Kalispell is at Depot Park on June 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; at the Columbia Falls Library on June 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and at the Bigfork Library on June 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Teens entering grades sixth through12 are invited to attend Teen Workshops, which will begin in July. This year’s workshops will take place at library locations in Kalispell, Bigfork and Columbia Falls, as well as the Flathead County Health Department, located at 1035 1st Ave West in Kalispell. Space is limited. Seats available first come, first served.

For details about Flathead County Library’s summer workshops for children and teens, call 758-5822 or visit flatheadcountylibrary.org/events/summer-experience. Summer Reading Experience concludes Aug. 11.
