Description
A Kalispell man who fled authorities in 2023 after allegedly threatening to kill his family and any law enforcement personnel who got in his way received a suspended sentence earlier this year.
Micah M. Winslow, 40, initially pleaded not guilty to one felony count of criminal endangerment in Flathead County District Court following his Nov. 12, 2023 arrest. But he pleaded out in late 2024 after taking a deal from prosecutors.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend Winslow serve a suspended five-year sentence with the state Department of Corrections. Winslow's attorney was free to argue for a three-year deferred sentence.
Judge Dan Wilson, who presided over the case, stuck to the prosecution's recommendation at Winslow's Jan. 30 sentencing. He also gave Winslow credit for 143 days of time served.
The Nov. 12, 2023 pursuit began after Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies were alerted to the alleged threats Winslow made against his family. Confronted by the authorities on Three Mile Drive in Kalispell, Winslow allegedly fled in a vehicle. The chase, which took authorities from Kalispell to Evergreen and Creston, later included Montana Highway Patrol troopers and Kalispell Police officers.
Though Winslow allegedly eluded spike strips, he eventually abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot on McMannamy Draw, which was near the home of the targets of his threats, officials said at the time. Authorities deployed Tasers to take Winslow into custody, authorities said.
Investigators later seized a knife and rifle from him, officials said.
