Description

Prosecutors have charged the woman accused of attacking a teenage relative in Coram and sending other family members scattering under a hail of gunfire with felony assault with a weapon.

Anne Marie Hislop, 41, remains in the county jail with bail set at $150,000 following her Nov. 21 arrest. She is expected to appear before Judge Robert Allison in Flathead County District Court on Dec. 19 for her arraignment on the felony charge.

According to court documents filed on Nov. 22, two victims — one of them a 13-year-old — fled a Platte Road home in Coram as Hislop fired more than 20 rounds from a second-floor window overlooking the driveway. They told responding Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies that Hislop had earlier fought the teen and threatened to kill both of them.

Hislop allegedly vowed to "put them in a big, deep hole," according to court documents.

Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino said last week that deputies continued to hear gunfire from the home as they cordoned off the property and attempted to contact Hislop. She allegedly refused to come out, instead barricading herself inside the house.

Members of the Flathead County Regional SWAT Team later induced her to leave — after deploying non-lethal pepper munitions in the home, according to Heino.

But once outside, Hislop allegedly continued to ignore commands. A K9 unit ultimately took her into custody about 8 p.m., Heino said.

She later received treatment for minor injuries suffered during the standoff, officials said.

Authorities initially held Hislop on a slew of potential charges, including attempted deliberate homicide and sexual assault.

Assault with a weapon is punishable by up to 20 years in the Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
