Bonjour! Aurore French Bakery brings authentic French pastries, breads, and café culture to Bozeman. We opened our storefront in May 2023 after years of growing through farmers markets and events. Now, we’re expanding our kitchen team and looking for a Pastry Chef who is serious about their craft and excited to grow with us.

Our team includes a bread baker, pastry chef, assistant baker, tourier (croissant baker), baristas/cashiers, assistant manager, and manager.

About the Role: This is a hands-on, high-output role that requires precision, energy, and a love of the details. You’ll be responsible for crafting traditional French pastries and desserts with consistency and care. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their space, and is eager to contribute to a growing bakery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Producing a range of French pastries: entremets (Royal, Fraisier, Framboisier, Opéra), tartes, éclairs, choux, chouquettes, macarons, etc.
  • Creating custom wedding cakes and specialty event desserts
  • Enhancing recipes or developing new ones to expand our product line
  • Maintaining consistency and high production standards
  • Estimating ingredient needs and managing prep lists
  • Keeping a clean, organized, and efficient work area
  • Following all food safety and hygiene standards
  • Occasionally assisting with dishes and general kitchen tasks

Schedule:

  • Wednesday: 6:00 AM to ~1:00 PM
  • Thursday to Sunday: 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM
  • Full-time, year-round (not seasonal)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience as a pastry chef is preferred, but not required
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Detail-oriented with high standards for quality
  • Coachable and open to feedback
  • Excited to grow with a small team
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and work on your feet for long hours
  • Curious about French baking and culture

Not a fit if you:

  • Can’t work weekends
  • Struggle with early mornings or physically demanding work
  • Prefer a slow-paced kitchen environment
  • Are not open to learning or adapting
  • Can’t commit to a full-time schedule and long-term growth
