Flathead Valley Community College is holding an evening to explore career paths and programs in the health care tract and in the trades.
The college holds Night at the Brossard and Night of the Trades on Oct. 2. The Rebecca Chaney Broussard Center for Nursing & Health Science Building on campus will hold an open house from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and at the FVCC Trades Institute from 5-8:30 p.m.
Faculty, staff and students from over 10 different nursing and health science programs are coming together to present a health care simulation that offers a glimpse into what a day on the job is really like for a variety of health care occupations. In addition to this interactive activity, guests will have the opportunity to tour FVCC's state-of-the-art facilities and learn more about the various health care programs offered.
Programs participating include certified nurse aide, practical nursing, registered nursing, medical assistant, medical coding, medical laboratory technology, paramedicine, phlebotomy, physical therapist assistant, radiologic technology, and surgical technology.

During the Night of Trades, prospective students explore potential trades pathways in hands-on career sessions led by FVCC instructors. Parents discover pathways for success in trades info sessions led by FVCC advisors.
Reserve one-hour sessions (5:45-6:45 p.m. and 7-8 p.m.) to get a taste of opportunities in the Trades. Reservations are required and open to anyone 16 years and older.
Session topics include plumbing, surveying, welding, fabrication, heavy equipment operator, commercial driver's license, advanced manufacturing: mills, lathes and CNC, HVAC and refrigeration, culinary arts, construction/building trades, electrical, and firearms technologies.
Local industry reps will be available from 5:30-8 p.m. with no reservation needed. Participating businesses are Ace Heating & Air, Big Sky Electric, Copper Mountain Builders, Defiance Machine, Nomad GCS, Plumb-Rite Plumbing, Rocky Mountain Contractors, Sands Surveying, Seals Custom Fabrication, and Weyerhauser.
